Vital Signs Camera - Philips App Reviews

Needs updating.

Hasnt been updated to work well with the iPhone 5 and I have yet to get an actual reading. Great idea but dont continue to charge for an app you are not going to actually continue to develop.

Ehh

Its honestly not worth giving up the storage space or money. Not a horrible idea— yet, I wouldnt recommend it to anyone actually following the product description.

Fantastic

Fantastic app. Really works.

Very cool tech

I love the technology, and am using it as a cool way to monitor my pulse as I increase my workout time throughout the week. Its novelty and coolness help to keep me motivated.

Cool, but latest update is buggy on iPhone 5

Very cool that you can tell your heart rate visually, and the respiration works well also. But the latest update broke parts of the interface on the iPhone 5. The heart graph disappears and the text is overlapped. I removed and re added the app and it worked once, then was messed up again the next time I tried it.

It might actually work, but who cares? Its just a fun concept.

I didnt do any testing against traditional machines because I could tell the numbers were fairly accurate to my norm, but its just fun to use! Even if its inaccurate, as long as its consistently inaccurate, it can keep track of trends.

Great app

This app does exactly what it says it will do. It is reliable, and I love the ability to look at the results over time using the graph function in history. The only drawbacks are (1) you have to put the iPad on a steady surface and (2) it doesnt work well in low light (which should be obvious since the app works via the iPads camera). I use this app virtually everyday to monitor my training and overall health.

POOR ANGLE/ADJUSTMENT OPTIONS

You cant get the position of the camera to get your face within the lines without have to get into awkward positions, or hold the camera up with your hands, which gives an inaccurate reading.

Great!

Great app! What will apps like this be like in 10 years?? Full physical?

Ms

Easy to work and fun.

Outstanding

As a former EMT. I still carry a pulse ox a system the put on your finger to get you pulse and oxygen. The iPhone and pulse ox are with in one beat difference Amazing

Wow!

Simply amazing and bewildering!

Concordant with Azumio heart rate app

Thank you.

Vital Signs Camera App

I couldn’t imagine that this app would be anywhere near accurate. I purchased it because Davis Argus (amazing physician and researcher) wrote "Really amazing app that can measure your heart rate and breathing through the iPhone or iPad camera. The camera detects subtle changes in the skin color of your face to measure your heart rate and movements of your chest to measure your breathing rate. It really works, and is accurate! You have to try it.” So I did try it and looked at the different readings I would get if I just took my pulse and respiration rate manually, used a pulse oximeter or this program. Vital Signs turned out to be spot on. Cool tool for sure..

Saving results

Unable to save results to camera with iPad mini retina.

Like it but...

This app ranked #2 in my search for the perfect heart rate monitor app for my iPhone. I like it a lot but holding the phone to get within the guide is quite awkward. The breathing monitor does not always generate a read if not correctly done. Would like to see the option to place finger on rear lens as a added option. Overall it works.

Meh

Pretty good HR monitor, Breathing measurements dont work at all. Difficult to get app to work in Landscape mode; even when opening in the correct orientation will switch to portrait once active. Constantly freezes. Surprised Philips hasnt worked out the bugs, theyve had plenty of time now and this reflects poorly on the company. Also this is supposedly an iPad optimized version, but only appears among my iPhone apps.

Work in progress...

Would like to see this app work with the camera on the back side of the phone. For example, as a physician it would be helpful to observe pulse ox in an emergent setting away from clinical settings -on an airplane perhaps.

Definitely not worth it

This app is difficult to use and grossly inaccurate. There are plenty of heart rate monitoring apps on the App Store that perform way better than this. I was heavily disappointed....dont waste your money.

Works as well as ever!

Havent had a chance to test the newest release under outdoor lighting, but continues to be an amazing little feat of image analysis that accurately detects pulse rate and breath rate. Modest disclaimer: I work for Philips, but in a totally unrelated capacity. Update May 2015: still works as well as ever - not sure what prompted this latest release after a long quiet period. But if you guys are listening, heres a feature request: get the app measurement history integrated into Apples HealthKit! Centralized health data would be a good feature.
